Academics

Curriculum

As an English Medium School, Ashok Memorial Public School is recognized by the Directorate of Education, Government of Haryana and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, for All India Secondary and Senior Secondary Examination.

The emphasis is on language, numerical and aesthetic development along with Nature Study through activity and play that is conducive to the physical and emotional growth of the children in their respective age groups. With Hindi as second language, Sanskrit or French is taught as a third language from Classes V to Classes VIII.

  • The teaching does not adhere to any one school of thought, but is eclectic, pragmatic & empirical.
  • At the Senior Secondary level, the school provides the following courses:

Examination System & Rules of Promotion

  • The student's academics and general progress is rated in two-term ending exams, the Summative Assessment tests and periodic Formative Assessment tests in a year. Promotion is based on a comprehensive cumulative evaluation (CCE).
  • All students have to maintain a minimum of 75%, attendance including medical leave, to qualify for the promotion.
  • Exemption is granted on the grounds of ill health on submission of a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
  • The results of the tests are made available to the Parents/ Guardians through Report Cards which have to be signed by them and returned to the Class Teacher.

System of Rewards

The school functions through a well-defined system of reward and retribution. Star Cards, Merit Certificates, Medals, Cups, Running Trophies and Gifts are the standard awards for excellence in games, academics and co-curricular activities. The students can be expelled or rusticated as per rules for unacceptable social behavior.

Scholarship

Merit is amply rewarded by granting fee concessions and cash awards to high achievers. Suitable free-ships and merit scholarships are also granted to students. Fee concession and cash awards are given to Board Exam Toppers and Gold Medalists in Zonal/National games and Sports events. Shri B.L. Sachdeva Scholarship Award and Shri G.L. Sachdeva Scholarship Award has been established for the deserving candidates from Class VIII onwards to commemorate the memory of the AMPS founders.
